Welcome to the Dog Haus
I want the instinctual, mushy-gushy bits. The idiosyncrasies that make something or someone up becomes clearest when put through a cycle of destruction and creation. Through multi-layered and multi-faceted projects I respond to my internal and external environments to forge connections with a broader audience. The work can be a coping mechanism, a vehicle for expression, an explanation, or just... something. I am a sucker for endless potential.
Sophia Dunzelman is an interdisciplinary artist working with traditional media, dance, video, and more to explore public versus private experiences and her facilitating role as an artist. A key part of her practice is collaboration, working with the viewer and other artists of different skills and experience to create interactive installations.
Born and raised in New Jersey she completed her BFA in painting at Montserrat College of Art (Beverly, MA) in May 2020. She is a recipient of the Carol Schlosberg Award and Montserrat Painting Department Award for graduating seniors.
She is a founding member of Industry: an artist collective hosting events and other opportunities for emerging artists on the North Shore. Within the collective her primary roles are social engagement, event planning, and project management. When she's not in the art studio she's in the dance studio - moving and groovin'.
